About the book

Am I getting parenting right? Most parents, at any and every stage, find themselves asking this question.

Whether you’re sleep deprived with a colicky newborn or navigating the emotional roller coaster of a teenager, parenting has its ups and downs, its confusion and clarity. And no matter our family makeup or our children’s personalities, many of us experience anxiety over our children’s futures and often fear making a mistake.

In an inviting, conversational approach, the Stanleys help you understand your most important goal in parenting and learn the steps to pursue it by:

  • Learning the four distinct stages of parenting
  • Clarifying the primary goal of parenting and developing a parenting orientation around that goal
  • Identifying and adapting your approach–not your rules–to your children’s distinct personalities
  • Deciding on your shortlist of non-negotiables and learning to stick to it

What others are saying

“I wish I had this book years ago, but I’m so encouraged by it now as I navigate having kids in their twenties. This resource is full of biblically based parenting wisdom from two parents I highly respect. To the moms and dads at any point in the journey, don’t miss this resource to help us parents get it right!”

Lysa TerKeurst #1 New York Times bestselling author and president of Proverbs 31 Ministries

“I love this book. Primarily because all the negative illustrations are about my brothers.”

Allie Stanley Cooney ThM Dallas Theological Seminary

“When we hit a wall with one of our kids, we called the Stanleys for advice. Their parenting wisdom gave us clarity, focus, resolve, and the courage to stay the course. After it worked even better than expected, we told the Stanleys they had to write a book on parenting. Regardless of the age of your children, you’ll benefit from their insight, experience, and wisdom. Highly recommend!”

Craig and Amy Groeschel Founders, Life.Church

“My parents are great at parenting. They’re not so great at coming up with marketable book titles.”

Garrett Stanley Social media and marketing analyst, Market Wake

“I loved this book! In fact, I highlighted notes on every page. At times, I felt like it was so personal that I was reading the Stanleys’ journal. The stories are relatable, the principles amazing. No matter the age of your kids, this is the book to read this year.”

Jim Burns PhD, president of HomeWord; author of Doing Life with Your Adult Children and Finding Joy in the Empty Nest

“My parents are attempting to profit from my mistakes. So it only seemed fair that I would profit from theirs!”
